NEW PRODUCT! AMPEX ATR-100 Modified I/O Module

ATR Service Modified ATR-100 I/O Modules
Modernized playback electronics delivering over 5× lower distortion than original Ampex specifications, extended bandwidth, and significantly reduced intermodulation distortion—while preserving the classic ATR sonic character. Designed for professional mastering, archival transfer, and reference-level audiophile playback.
The ATR Service modified I/O module is a performance-driven upgrade for the Ampex ATR-100 series, developed to significantly reduce distortion while preserving the original sonic character of the ATR platform.
ATR Service upgrades do not change the sound of the ATR-102 — they remove the limitations that previously obscured it.
Key Performance Improvements
-
Extended Frequency Response. The usable bandwidth at reference level has been substantially increased compared to the original ATR I/O module, providing greater linearity and improved high-frequency accuracy.

-
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). THD is reduced to ≈0.004% at reference operating level, compared to approximately 0.02% for the original Ampex I/O module—representing an improvement of approximately 5×.

-
Intermodulation Distortion (IMD). IMD is reduced by more than a factor of three, achieved through a newly developed high-efficiency output transformer utilizing a permalloy core, precision winding geometry, and optimized magnetic design.

-
Circuit Refinements. Select circuit elements have been upgraded to modern, tightly specified components to improve linearity, stability, and long-term reliability without altering the fundamental ATR sonic signature.

-
Sonic Result. These enhancements deliver increased transparency, lower coloration, and improved dynamic realism, exceeding the performance of our earlier transformerless I/O modules while maintaining excellent drive capability and musicality.
