The 1-inch, 2-track version of the Ampex ATR-102 is a labor of love... the result of many hours of design and testing by Michael Spitz and the design team at ATR Services.
A few of the benefits of upgrading to 1" operation...
• The ability to record at lower operating levels which increases tape headroom. (The noise floor is dropped over 3 db! ) Musically speaking you will hear more transient punch. The greater punch does not come at the expense of sound stage depth or detail.
• Noise reduction is no longer required for 15 IPS operation! By eliminating the encode-decode process, you can retain all the detail of the performance.
• The tape path has been altered from the original to provide solid tape to head contact, phase stability and smooth spooling performance.
• To add even more value to your ATR OneTwo, 1/2" mixing is supported simply by changing the head assembly and tape guides, making the OneTwo one of the most versatile recorders ever made.
The OneTwo conversion is available as an in-house conversion or a professional upgrade kit that can be installed by a competent technician. The upgrade includes a finished one inch 2 track head assembly, one inch mastering grade urethane capstan/tachometer assembly, one inch timer roller, one inch heavy duty tape guides and associated electronic component parts.
The OneTwo is also available equipped with our Aria line of discrete class A electronics, resulting in what is quite possibly the world's finest recorder, analog or digital!
